BlackBerry smartphone maker analysis In Motion Ltd. (RIM) on Monday unveiled a pill laptop named BlackBerry PlayBook, that is seen because the company's answer to Apple Inc.'s iPad.
The PlayBook is predicted to be on the market within the us in early 2011 and later roll out in alternative international markets, RIM said whereas introducing the pill at its annual developers' conference held in San Francisco.
RIM's PlayBook options a seven-inch bit screen, smaller than that of the iPad, and weighs concerning an equivalent at nearly four hundred grams.
Unlike the iPad, the PlayBook has front and rear facing cameras for video capture and video conferencing which will each record HD video at an equivalent time.
It is powered by a dual-core, one gigahertz processor and can run a brand new operating system known as BlackBerry pill OS, that is made upon the platform of QNX, an organization bought by RIM earlier this year.
PlayBook users will combine the pill with their BlackBerry smartphone employing a Bluetooth association, RIM said, noting that content stored on the smartphone is simply briefly cached on the pill.
